MARCUS MAN INJURED IN FARM ACCIDENT NEAR MAURICE

A MARCUS MAN WAS INJURED IN A FARM ACCIDENT THAT OCCURRED SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN A FARM FIELD, TWO MILES SOUTHEAST OF MAURICE. THE SIOUX COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THAT 23 YEAR OLD NATHAN CROUCH OF MARCUS WAS DRIVING A TRACTOR IN A FIELD. A PASSENGER IN THE TRACTOR, 21 YEAR OLD ANDREW JALAS OF MARCUS ATTAMPED TO JUMP FROM THE MOVING TRACTOR TO WORK ON MANURE HANDLING EQUIPMENT. JALAS SLIPPED FROM THE STEP AREA, FELL TO THE GROUND, AND WAS DRIVEN OVER BY THE REAR TIRES OF THE TRACTOR. JALAS WAS TRANSPORTED BY THE SIOUX CENTER AMBULANCE TO THE SIOUX CENTER HOSPITAL. HE WAS LATER FLOWN TO SANFORD HOSPITAL IN SIOUX FALLS FOR FURTHER TREATMENT OF HIS INJURIES. THE SIOUX COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WAS ASSISTED BY THE MAURICE FIRST RESPONDERS, MAURICE FIRE AND RESCUE AND THE SIOUX CENTER AMBULANCE.
