Sioux Center Man Sentenced for Sex Abuse and Possession of Marijuana

A Sioux Center man received a two-year federal prison sentence Tuesday in Sioux County District Court.  20-year-old Edgar Diego of Sioux Center was accused of committing a sex act with a minor last November.  Upon investigation Diego admitted to having intercourse with a minor at his residence.   A search warrant was then executed on Diego’s residence which also revealed he had marijuana in his bedroom.

Diego was sentenced to two years in prison for Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse after also being sentenced to 180 days in jail for possession of Marijuana.  The sentences will run consecutively, and upon completion of his jail and prison terms, U.S. Immigration and Customs will take custody of Diego and begin deportation proceedings.
