Bond Issue Approved – Sioux Center to Build New High School

Voters in the Sioux Center Community School District have approved a $24.9 million bond issue to build a new high school.  The passage of this bond paves the way for authorities to finalize plans for a new high school to be located near the current athletic fields, north of the Sioux County Fairgrounds and Heritage Village; ground breaking may occur as early as this spring.  Total cost for the project is $39.6 million dollars.

According to the Sioux County Auditor’s Office, there were 1396 yes votes and 432 no votes – that’s 76.3% passage for the bond issue, which needed a 60% supermajority to pass.
